My furnace broke last night and they’re replacing it today…
Is it too late to get a rebate?
As a heating system is a necessity of life, Union Gas and Enbridge allow for the emergency replacement of a heating system (furnace, boiler) in the winter if the existing system is either unrepairable or uneconomical to repair. This is typically between mid-October and late March every year.
If this is you, don’t fret, just follow these simple steps:
- Take pictures of the existing equipment and rating plate – the rating plate will have the make, model number and serial number on it. If you can’t find this, ask your installer for some help.
- Contact Energy Werx within 5 days of the heating system replacement
- Schedule the pre-retrofit energy evaluation within 30 days of the heating system replacement
When we perform the energy evaluation, we will assume the old equipment is still in place – this is standard practice. The new heating system would count as the one qualifying measure, so long as it meets the required specifications.
